A PATHWAY SHAPED AROUND YOU

Your learning begins with you.

No two students arrive with exactly the same experiences, strengths or goals.

International students learn alongside local ākonga (students) in everyday Haeata classes. Teachers and the International team get to know what you enjoy, where you need support and what you would like to achieve.

Your programme may bring together academic subjects, English-language development, creative and practical learning, specialist experiences and future planning—depending on your year level, interests and availability.

YOUR PATHWAY

Five questions that shape your pathway

01   What do you enjoy?

02   What are your strengths?

03   What English support helps?

04   What would you like to achieve?

05   Where could this lead?

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING

Build your English. Find your voice.

Learning through English can feel unfamiliar at first. You might understand an idea but need time to find the words to express it. That is part of learning in a new language.

Haeata provides English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) support informed by students' needs. This may include an initial English-language assessment, specialist teaching, support in regular classes and individual goals. The aim is to help you participate—not simply pass a language test.

LANGUAGE IN REAL LIFE

Learn the language. Live the experience.

English grows through everyday interactions: classroom discussion, practical activities, teamwork and making new friends.

Support is shaped around your starting point and learning needs, helping you develop the confidence to participate and express your ideas.

01 / LEARN

Develop language

Strengthen reading, writing, speaking, listening and the academic English used in different subjects.

02 / PARTICIPATE

Share your ideas

Build confidence asking questions, explaining your thinking and contributing to classroom activities.

03 / PROGRESS

Grow your independence

Review learning goals and develop the English you need for future study, friendships and daily life.

English support is part of your learning pathway—not separate from it.

DISCOVER WHAT YOU CAN DO

Learning that goes beyond the textbook.

At Haeata, learning can involve making, designing, performing, working as a team and tackling real-world challenges. Specialist programmes are examples of what may be available, depending on year level, timetable, suitability and current offerings.
